About Us

The Academy

The fundamental goal of the British Dancing Academy is to provide high-quality training. We strive to instill creativity and artistic development in all students.

The academy staff and teachers are fully committed and dedicated to ensuring our dance program is more than just the normal "dance class" program. We encourage a strong commitment from students, their parents, our teachers, and our entire staff to produce a curriculum and atmosphere that will enhance not only the ability to dance but also one that supports basic education, developing skills in self-discipline, poise, posture, and attainment of personal goals.

A major focus of our program is to ensure each student, from our youngest 3 1/2-year-olds through adults, receives individual attention and a true enrichment to their overall educational experience. To maintain quality in our overall dance program and to challenge our students in ballet, tap, and modern, we teach the syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.). These training organizations offer carefully structured teaching methods that work with each dancer’s physical abilities.

Placement/Scheduling

Class assignments are made on an individual basis. Each student is placed in class according to previous experience, age, and ability. Therefore, class schedules are not provided by mail.

Placement classes are available for new students with previous training to ensure enrollment in suitable classes.

Please Note: We do not charge a registration fee! This allows new students a chance to decide if our school is suitable before they are committed to monthly tuition.

“My family has been dancing with British for many years. They have an amazing way of instilling dance into the hearts of the dancers. I danced at British as a child, and my kids are now dancers there. They continue to have amazing shows, and teach amazing skills to their dancers.”

Tracy W.

“My daughters have grown so much since joining the BDA. The instructors are very dedicated to their students. As a result, my daughters have a very high dedication to the arts. Highly recommend the BDA!”

“If you want a professional, yet non-competitive environment to be the best dancer possible then this might be the right place for you and/or your child. Ballet, jazz, tap and modern with two studios in the south end of King County. Awesome teachers!”
